Following extensive trials, Bridgewater Logistics has launched its line-haul operations to complement the company’s existing transport and logistics services. Importantly, this development further cements Bridgewater Logistics’ standing as a single point of contact for all transport and logistics requirements, including full-service trucking, distribution, warehousing and shipping.
The new division was launched earlier this year as a proactive response to a demand for high-quality and cost-effective line-haul services from existing and potential customers.
“We have a solid reputation in the market for our skills and capabilities, and we were, therefore, approached on a number of occasions by existing clients and interested parties if we would also undertake their important line-haul requirements. It has taken some time to reach this point, since we embarked on our early market research, ahead of introducing a limited service as part of a prototype phase. This effort has been well worth it, considering the feedback the division has already received from what is known to be an extremely competitive market. We are now looking forward to growing the division as a commercial division of the larger company,” says Quinton de Villiers, managing director of Bridgewater Logistics.
Management has already bought new tri-axle axle trucks from a leading Swedish truck manufacturer to boost existing capacity to cater to the growing demand. They will complement Bridgewater Logistics already sizeable and well-maintained fleet of trucks that operated by highly-skilled drivers.
However, De Villiers says that the ramp-up of the division’s activities will be undertaken slowly and carefully in line with Bridgewater Logistics’ tried-and-tested methods that are deployed when diversifying into new growth areas.
This approach has always ensured that the key differentiators of the group are successfully entrenched within a new division to ensure its sustainable growth.
