Leading manufacturers of sophisticated technologies for industrial applications through to high-end household appliances have turned to Bridgewater Logistics for an “intelligent” warehousing solution.
Quinton de Villiers, managing director of Bridgewater Logistics, says that the company’s “smart” warehousing offering has become an integral component of so many clients’ logistics system.
“Our clients realise the extent of infrastructure, as well as skills and capabilities, required to operate an effective warehousing process. They know that these activities are the cornerstone of an efficient supply-chain system and they, therefore, prefer to outsource these operations to an expert in the field,” De Villiers says.
Located at No. 7 Sim Road, Pomona, Kempton Park, Bridgewater Logistics’ state-of-the-art facility features 9 000 square metres of warehousing floor space, numerous loading doors and ample space for trucks.
These premises, as well as all incoming and outgoing vehicles are monitored on an ongoing basis from a modern and sophisticated control room.
A major highlight of the facility is a new automated access-control system that has also improved efficiencies for customers entering and exiting the facility.
Bridgewater Logistics is one of a handful of South African companies that have installed such a system, and it will also feature prominently in a presentation at this year’s Transported Asset Protection Association Europe Middle East and Africa working group that will be hosted at Emperor’s Palace on 14 November.
In addition to providing secure facilities, De Villiers says that the proximity of the facility to OR Tambo International Airport has also driven demand for Bridgewater Logistics’ warehousing services.
“Kempton Park and its surroundings is a rapidly expanding cargo hub, and part of the larger ‘Aerotropolis’ development. As more work gets under way on this project, which includes large-scale expansions to the cargo-handling components of the airport, we expect to see an even greater demand for our warehousing services,” he concludes.
