Bridgewater Logistics’ new electronic security system is now fully operational following a four-month long trial period that precedes the imminent roll-out of the technology to the leading South African transport and logistics solution provider’s other operations in the country.
Importantly, Bridgewater Logistics is one of a handful of companies in the country to install this new technology from a leading Australian specialist that was selected by Havensec, a sister company of Bridgewater Logistics that specialises in hi-tech security solutions.
The system was first installed at Bridgewater Logistics’ main warehousing operation in Kempton Park, Johannesburg, to better facilitate ease of access to the facility for clients, while significantly strengthening security protocol there.
Many premium businesses use this state-of-the-art facility for their “smart” warehousing solutions for products ranging from high-tech electronics and household appliances through to advanced industrial applications. They have access to 9 000 square meters of warehousing floor space and ample portioned racking and loading doors, as well as space for trucks to park and turn.
Quinton de Villiers, managing director of Bridgewater Logistics, reports that minor refinements have been made to the international system during the testing phase to improve efficiencies. The company also consulted experts from Havensec to strengthen existing features of the system.
“Access control is now fully automated and linked to an extensive database that permanently stores all relevant information about visitors and clients. Once this data has been easily captured the first time they visit, they are afforded effortless access to the facility. Importantly, it also familiarises visitors with critical health and safety protocol on our site The feedback from our clients thus far has been extremely positive and we are now preparing to introduce it other facilities,” says De Villiers.
